Web Reference: Mar 25, 2026 · Introduction ¶ Turtle graphics is an implementation of the popular geometric drawing tools introduced in Logo, developed by Wally Feurzeig, Seymour Papert and Cynthia Solomon in 1967. This is an optional module. If it is missing from your copy of CPython, look for documentation from your distributor (that is, whoever provided Python to you). This tutorial explains many of the functions in the turtle module. When you learn more of these functions, you will be able to draw many different shapes and beautiful pictures! The turtle module provides a simple graphics library for drawing shapes and patterns. Use it for teaching programming concepts, creating visual art, or building simple graphical applications.
