Wilkinson) Note: sorting two sub-arrays can be done in parallel. Therefore two recursive calls can be called in parallel. The first division phase is essentially scattering the array across the processors. The second merge phase can be done in parallel with each processor using a sequential merge operation. Samplesort and semisort algorithms use sampling to determine heavy keys and light keys, allowing duplicates to be placed in the same bucket which requires no sorting. DTSort combines these two ideas so that it takes advantage of duplicates while still sorting in order.
