Web Reference: Dynamic SQL is a programming technique that enables you to build SQL statements dynamically at runtime. You can create more general purpose, flexible applications by using dynamic SQL because the full text of a SQL statement may be unknown at compilation. Note I used a SELECT INTO statement as my dyamic string and used a bind variable in the INTO clause. I am currently travelling right now and won't have access to my computer back at home for a few days, but this has been nagging me for a bit. Dynamic SQL and PL/SQL has been supported in Oracle for many versions. Before Oracle 8i, we used the low-level DBMS_SQL package and more recently we have used Native Dynamic SQL to parse, bind and execute dynamic statements.
