Web Reference: Let's say you are running Node.js on a remote machine, remote.example.com, that you want to be able to debug. On that machine, you should start the node process with the inspector listening only to localhost (the default). If you are unable to use any of the Remote Development extensions to debug your Node.js program, below is a guide on how to debug a remote Node.js program from your local instance of VS Code. The quickest way to do this is just to click on the debug icon on the left hand menu, and then select create a launch.json file, which is just under Run and Debug.
