Web Reference: Jul 12, 2025 · In Python, functions are first-class objects meaning they can be assigned to variables, passed as arguments and returned from other functions. This enables higher-order functions, decorators and lambda expressions. This is called partial functions and there are at least 3 ways to do this. My favorite way is using lambda because it avoids dependency on extra package and is the least verbose. Information can be passed into functions as arguments. Arguments are specified after the function name, inside the parentheses. You can add as many arguments as you want, just separate them with a comma. The following example has a function with one argument (fname).
