Web Reference: Jul 8, 2025 · Azure Monitor Agent doesn't rely on Syslog events being logged to /var/log/. Instead, it configures the rsyslog service to forward events over a TCP port directly to the azuremonitoragent service process (mdsd). DevOps & SysAdmins: Rsyslog is not working properly, it does not log anything (4 Solutions!!) I wrote a powershell script that queries all of our servers with Log Parser then dumps the data to a SQL database. There are parameters in Log Parser that let you save to a SQL database.
