Generally speaking, the CXPACKET wait type is normal for SQL Server and it is an indicator that SQL Server is using a parallel plan in executing a query, which is generally faster comparing to a query executed in a serialized process. Note: Starting with SQL Server 2016 (13.x) SP2 and SQL Server 2017 (14.x) CU3, CXPACKET only refers to waiting to synchronize the Exchange Iterator and producing rows. Threads consuming rows are tracked separately in the CXCONSUMER wait type.
