This method is useful when we need to select data based on label matching, whether it's by exact labels, partial string matches or regular expression patterns. For DataFrame, filter rows or columns depending on axis argument. Note that this routine does not filter based on content. The filter is applied to the labels of the index. Keep labels from axis which are in items. Keep labels from axis for which “like in label == True”. Keep labels from axis for which re.search (regex, label) == True.
