The increment (++) operator increments (adds one to) its operand and returns the value before or after the increment, depending on where the operator is placed. The ++ operator is overloaded for two types of operands: number and BigInt. Description The increment operator (++) adds 1 from the operand. If it is placed after the operand, it returns the value before the increment. If it is placed before the operand, it returns the value after the increment. The ++ postfix operator (as in base++) works differently: it does increment the variable preceding it, but the expression returns the value before incrementation. The prefix increment operator, on the other hand, works as you want, ++base returns the value after incrementing it.
