Web Reference: Robert Delaunay (French: [ʁɔbɛʁ dəlonɛ]; 12 April 1885 – 25 October 1941) was a French artist of the School of Paris movement; [1] who, with his wife Sonia Delaunay and others, co-founded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes. Delaunay penned his own theories of color in which he discusses both color as a material form and its great expressive power. He was particularly captivated by how the interaction of various colors generated impressions of movement and depth without allusion to nature. The Delaunay is a European café and restaurant at 55 Aldwych. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner seven days a week, and perfectly placed for pre-theatre dining in London's West End.
