The main difference between Comparable and Comparator is: Comparable: It is used to define the natural ordering of the objects within the class. Comparator: It is used to define custom sorting logic externally. Comparisons in Java are quite easy, until they’re not. When working with custom types, or trying to compare objects that aren’t directly comparable, we need to make use of a comparison strategy. We can build one simply by making use of the Comparator or Comparableinterfaces. It is easier to use the Comparable interface when possible, but the Comparator interface is more powerful because it allows you to sort any kind of object even if you cannot change its code.
