Web Reference: This example will investigate how different identification algorithms perform on closed-loop data, i.e., when the input to the system is produced by a controller using output feedback. In closed-loop identi cation, the frequency area around the cross-over frequency of the closed-loop system, typically is most dominantly present in the plant data/models. This paper shows a new and novel method of using complete closed-loop data without any intrusive step tests for model identification. The technique identifies multivariable open-loop models with slave PIDs in auto or even cascade modes and then shows how to optimize PID tuning and improve MPC models.
